Setup ​

Before you can use Whisper, you need to connect it to your account and set up your AI. This only takes a few minutes and you only have to do it once.

Open Terminal and type:

Whisper will walk you through everything step by step. Here's what to expect.

Step 1: API Key ​

Whisper needs your API key to connect to your account. You'll see a prompt like this:

API Key:

Paste your API key and press Enter. Whisper will verify it and show a confirmation:

✓ Authenticated

Where do I get my API key?

Your API key was provided when you signed up. If you don't have one or can't find it, reach out to your account manager.

Step 2: Select Your Accounts ​

Whisper will show a list of the accounts connected to your API key:

Connected accounts:
  1. SunshineVibes (@sunshinevibes) - active
  2. MoonlightMuse (@moonlightmuse) - active

Select accounts to manage (comma-separated, or 'all'):

Type the numbers of the accounts you want to manage, separated by commas. Or just type all to manage everything.

Step 3: AI Provider ​

Next, you'll choose which AI service powers Whisper's responses and enter its API key:

AI Provider:
  1. Anthropic
  2. OpenAI
  3. Google

Provider (1-3):

Pick one and enter the API key for that service when prompted.

Which provider should I pick?

If you're not sure, option 1 is a good default. All three work well.

Step 4: Persona ​

For each account, Whisper asks you to define the chat personality:

Creator display name [SunshineVibes]:
Chat style (e.g. flirty, teasing, playful):

The display name defaults to your account name. For chat style, describe how you want the AI to sound in conversations. Be specific. "flirty and playful with lots of emojis" works better than just "nice."

Step 5: Analytics (Optional) ​

Whisper can run advanced analytics on your conversations to find what's working and build strategies. This step is optional.

Configure analytics? (y/N):

If you type N or just press Enter, you'll skip this. You can always set it up later by running whisper login again.

If you type y, Whisper will ask for your analytics credentials. Your account manager can help you with these if needed.

You're Done ​

After the last step, you'll see:

Setup complete!
Run `whisper` to start managing chats.

That's it. Head to Your First Chat to start using Whisper.

Running Setup Again ​

You can re-run whisper login any time to update your API key, add new accounts, change your AI provider, or update your persona. It will detect your existing settings and let you update only what you need.
