Your First Chat

Let's walk through your first time using Whisper so you know exactly what to expect.

Starting Whisper

Open Terminal and type:

bash
whisper

Press Enter. Whisper will start up and you'll see something like this:

tip: Type what you want in plain English. Try "show me my unread messages."

That > at the bottom is your prompt. This is where you type instructions for Whisper.

Looks different on your screen?

Whisper's banner and colors look best in Hyper. If the output above looks different in your terminal, try switching to Hyper for the intended experience.

Talking to Whisper

Whisper understands plain English. You don't need to memorize commands or use special syntax. Just tell it what you want.

Try typing something like:

show me my unread messages

Whisper will check your account, find your unreads, and list them out with subscriber names, message previews, and how long ago they came in.

Now try:

read the chat with the most recent unread and write a reply

Whisper will pull up that conversation, read through the messages, and draft a response that matches your persona. It sends the message and shows you a confirmation with the last few messages so you can see what was sent.

A Few Things to Try

Here are some instructions that work well to get you started:

  • show me my unread messages
  • read my chat with @username and respond
  • how much did I earn today?
  • find new subscribers from the last 24 hours and welcome them
  • check what content is in my vault

You can also ask follow-up questions. Whisper remembers what you've been talking about during your session. So after reading a chat, you can say "send them something flirty" and it knows who you mean.

The Tip Line

Before each prompt, you'll see a tip: line with a helpful suggestion. These change based on where you are in your workflow. When you're new, you'll see basics. As you use Whisper more, the tips evolve to show power-user features.

How to Exit

When you're done, type:

/quit

Or press Ctrl+C on your keyboard (hold the Control key and press C). Either way, Whisper will shut down and you'll be back at your normal Terminal prompt.

Remember this

You'll use /quit or Ctrl+C to exit Whisper throughout these docs. Whenever you need to run a different Whisper command (like whisper insights or whisper account), you need to exit first, then type the new command at your regular Terminal prompt.

Next Steps
