Updating Whisper

Whisper checks for updates automatically when you start it. If a new version is available, you'll see a message:

Update available: 0.4.2 → 0.5.0
Run: whisper update

Installing an Update

Exit Whisper if you're in interactive mode (/quit), then run:

bash
whisper update

Whisper downloads the latest version, verifies it, and replaces the current one:

✓ Updated successfully! Restart whisper to use v0.5.0.

Close and reopen Whisper to start using the new version.

Checking Without Installing

If you just want to see whether an update is available:

bash
whisper check-updates

This tells you your current version and whether there's a newer one, without installing anything.

Disabling the Update Check

If you don't want Whisper to check for updates on startup:

bash
whisper --no-update-check

This skips the background check for that session only. The next time you start Whisper normally, it will check again.
