Updating Whisper
Whisper checks for updates automatically when you start it. If a new version is available, you'll see a message:
Update available: 0.4.2 → 0.5.0
Run: whisper updateInstalling an Update
Exit Whisper if you're in interactive mode (/quit), then run:
bash
whisper updateWhisper downloads the latest version, verifies it, and replaces the current one:
✓ Updated successfully! Restart whisper to use v0.5.0.Close and reopen Whisper to start using the new version.
Checking Without Installing
If you just want to see whether an update is available:
bash
whisper check-updatesThis tells you your current version and whether there's a newer one, without installing anything.
Disabling the Update Check
If you don't want Whisper to check for updates on startup:
bash
whisper --no-update-checkThis skips the background check for that session only. The next time you start Whisper normally, it will check again.
